Traffic delays ease on the A20 Ashford Road near roundabout near the Mercure Maidstone Hotel

Motorists faced delays on the A20 Ashford Road this morning after a crash.

The collision happened on the Ashford-bound carriageway between Penfold Hill and the M20, close to the roundabout near the Mercure Maidstone Hotel.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 7am and closed the road while they dealt with the incident.

Traffic was queuing between the B2163 Penfold Hill and the M20 at Eyhorne Street, but the road is now fully open.

Lucy Hurdle, spokesman for police, said: "Kent Police was called at 6.48am to reports that a van was on its side on the carriageway of the A20 near Hollingbourne.

"Officers are currently at the scene and the carriage is currently closed while the van is being recovered.

"No injuries have been reported."
