Two men have been arrested after a crash on Blue Bell Hill this morning.

The duo, both 21 and from Gillingham, were taken into police custody in connection with the incident on the southbound carriageway of the A229.

They were arrested on suspicion of drink driving and perverting the course of justice.

A car is thought to have collided into a road barrier near the Shell petrol station at about 3.10am.

The crash closed one lane of the busy route - causing long delays for motorists travelling into Maidstone during rush hour.

Queues were back to Lord Lees roundabout, for junction 3 of the M2.
