Queues started to build following a crash in Hermitage Lane, Maidstone, this morning.
The single-car collision happened just after 8.30am and the vehicle ended up in a field.
An ambulance crew treated the male driver at the scene for injuries that a police spokesman said were not thought to be serious.
The crash comes just three weeks after Phil Edbrooke-Childs died on the same road when his car collided with a fuel tanker.
Kent Highways described today's accident as severe and warned drivers to expect delays in the area.
A spokesman said: "There is queuing traffic back to the A20 London Road. Expect delays on the approaches."
Queues built in nearby Tonbridge Road and London Road and the congestion would have affected patients visiting Maidstone Hospital, which is in Hermitage Lane.
Kent Highways said the vehicle was cleared by 9.45am and delays are beginning to clear.
To add to the chaos around the town centre this morning there was also slow moving traffic in both directions on the A229 Loose Road, near The Wheatsheaf pub.
