Stroll down Week Street, Maidstone, today and by the time you reach the end of it you will probably know considerably more about the Bible than you did when you set off.

The Rev Eric Delve, Vicar of St Luke's Church, Maidstone, is launching a 24-hour preach at noon, outside Marks & Spencer.

His aim is far from modest: he will be preaching from Genesis through to Revelations.

"Basically, I will be covering from the creation to the end of the world," he said.

He will be raising funds for the Detling Conference, a Christian festival which takes place at the county showground, Detling, from August 2 to 7.

During the night, he hopes to have some company from parishioners but hopes clubbers on their way home will give him a friendly reception.
