A schoolboy has made a miraculous recovery after beating
doctors' predictions when he was critically injured by a car.

Luke Pye was left fighting for his life when he was dragged underneath a vehicle as he crossed Sutton Road on Saturday, March 30.

But the 10-year-old defied doctors' predictions and returned to
his Park Wood home just one week later.

Luke was discharged from Great Ormond Street Hospital s
even days after being
struck by a silver Suzuki Swift at the junction with Wallis
Avenue.

The Greenfields Community Primary School pupil was airlifted to
hospital with a serious head wound and placed in an induced
coma.

Mother Jackie kept a bedside vigil for her eldest son and
wept with relief when he opened his eyes.

But even at that point, nobody expected him to be snuggled up on
the sofa at home three days later.

"It has all been a bit of a blur," said mother-of-six Jackie.
"We were expecting him to be in hospital for at least six
weeks.

"At one point I thought I was going to lose him, but he has just
been amazing and shown so much strength. Someone was definitely
looking down on him that day."

Chelsea fan Luke, who has named each of his wounds including a
huge "Harry Potter scar" on his head, has been inundated with
visitors since he returned to the Felderland Drive family home.

He said: "It's really nice to be back and see my friends."

Jackie added: "The support we have received has been amazing and
I really do think that is what pulled him through.

"We've got so many people to thank, including the Kent Air
Ambulance and Great Ormond Street, who were just brilliant."
