Foreign driver Jaroslav Horvath charged with death of Susan Mellor on M20 in Maidstone

A driver has been charged following a crash which killed a pensioner.

Jaroslav Horvath, from the Czech Republic, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following the collision at junction 7 (Detling) on the M20 near Maidstone.

Susan Mellor, a 74-year-old from Maidstone, died in the crash on December 6.

The 40-year-old has been bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates' Court on June 24.

The accident, which involved a red Nissan Qashqai and a red Mercedes articulated lorry, happened just after 5am - closing the road in both directions.

Ms Mellor was known by many around the town and also had lots of friends and family in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. She left a son, two daughters, a brother and a sister.

Her family said: "Mum's laughter touched so many people, leaving a smile in all of our hearts.

"Sue was the life and soul of the party and would want to be remembered laughing and dancing."
