A charity walk will be even more poignant for one fund-raiser as she takes part in memory of both her parents.

Ashley Hasler will walk the Heart of Kent Hospice Moonlit Walk in memory of her parents Bob and Marion Cavanaugh, who both died at the hospice.

The women-only half marathon walk sets off from Kings Hill Community Centre, and will be started at midnight on Saturday, July 5, by MP Ann Widdecombe.

Mrs Hasler, from Leybourne, said of the hospice staff: “I am so grateful to them. They were so supportive and were equally as caring to me as they were to my mum.

“They were the same when my dad was ill, and gave us so much support."

Mrs Hasler, 43, will be joined by nine friends for the walk, which will follow a circular route along well-lit pavements to the hospice grounds and back again.

There will be street entertainment along the way.

The entry fee is £15, which includes a T-shirt, a medal and one month’s free membership to Curves Fitness Centre in Maidstone.

Men are welcome to go along to support the hospice and the walkers by being marshals for the evening.

Walkers must book to take part. Call Stephen Fuller on 01622 790195 or email stephen.fuller@hokh.co.uk

Entry forms are also in this week's Kent Messenger and Maidstone Extra.
