Part of the M20 was closed due to a car fire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze between Junction 6 (Blue Bell Hill) and Junction 5 (Maidstone) earlier today.

Traffic was diverted off and back on at Junction 6 and there were delays of up to 45 minutes.

Kent Police confirmed they arrived at the scene shortly before 12.20pm.

National Highways confirmed the lanes had reopened by around 1.20pm.

The fire service has been contacted for more comment.
