A BLIND man’s Christmas has been ruined after his wallet was stolen.
The man, who has asked not to be named for fear of further attacks, had just withdrawn £120 from the NatWest bank in Maidstone High Street to buy his Christmas presents.
As he was walking from the bank to Week Street with his dog, someone bumped into him and stole his wallet from his pocket. It wasn’t until he got home he realised it had gone.
He said: "I got extra benefit money this week and I was going to use it to buy my sister and friends their Christmas presents, but I have had to tell them now that they won’t be getting any because my money was stolen.
"The person who did this is scum. I just feel so sad that they are picking on the elderly, disabled and vulnerable."
Police have given the man a security chain to attach to his wallet to stop it happening again.
Sgt Richard Wingett said: "This was a particularly despicable act, committed by cowards who are targeting the vulnerable and disabled."
Anyone with information about this incident, which took place on Monday, is asked to contact Maidstone and Malling Police on 01622 604181.
