Carers, neighbours who go above and beyond and long-serving volunteers are among those who have been nominated for a special award.
Nominations for the Senior Person of the Year Award, which the Kent Messenger is running in conjunction with Barty Nursing Home in Bearsted, close this weekend.
Readers have put forward entries for friends and neighbours who go the extra mile for those around them, including one who is 90 but still puts others before her, a volunteer for the Heart of Kent Hospice and a carer who has a husband with dementia, yet still finds time to help her young neighbours.
All you need to do to nominate someone over 65 is write up to 150 words saying what makes them special. You can select a friend, colleague, family member, or you can even nominate yourself.
Winners will be treated to a fabulous prize of a day trip to London with a guest, which includes lunch, an organised visit to the Houses of Parliament, plus transport there and back.
And for nominators, there’s also a chance to win a £100 gift card. The search for special people was launched at Barty House by Faversham and Mid Kent MP Hugh Robertson (Con).
