Friends and family of a student killed in a car crash are raising money to continue his legacy of “doing something positive for someone every day”.
Luke Mumford, 20, died when his car careered up a bank and flipped over on Pilgrims Way, near Eccles, in November.
The graphics student, from Maidstone, had only been driving for three weeks when tragedy struck.
Now mum Sarah Willis wants to make sure other young people with Luke’s passion for design get the help they need to achieve their goals.
A JustGiving page has been set up with the goal of raising £20,000 for MidKent College’s graphic design students.
The 46-year-old said: “Luke gave up a lot of his time to help MidKent in between going to university in Canterbury and working at Sainsbury’s.
"Every Friday he would go along to help his old tutor Babs and support her new students.
“We want to raise money to help students with things like tuition and the end of year show. MidKent and Canterbury have been absolutely amazing to us.
“The initial plan was to raise £5,000 but I thought why stop there? Why not try and raise £1,000 for every year he was alive?”
She added: “It’s overwhelming to see how many people’s lives my son touched. It’s unbelievable, even down to a customer at Sainsbury’s.
“I am extremely proud of him.”
“Doing this, helping to support future graphic designers, would have meant the world to Luke" - Max Heywood
Max Heywood, one of Luke’s former tutors who set up the fund, said: “In Luke, the world lost many things. A son, a brother, a student, a work colleague and, to most, a friend.
“Not only a talented young man, with a bright future ahead of him, but a person with a huge heart. Luke left us all with memories filled with laughter and love.”
He said the fund would help keep his memory alive.
“Doing this, helping to support future graphic designers, would have meant the world to Luke. Whether it is something big, or small, it will matter,” Mr Heywood added.

Donations to a charity called Catching Lives, which helps homeless people in Canterbury have been made following Luke’s funeral.
