Doormen paised for spotting gun in nightclub

SHARP-EYED door staff prevented a gun being taken into a Kent nightclub.

Police officers were called to the 1,300 capacity ikon club in Maidstone's Lockmeadow complex and five arrests were made. One man was charged with firearms and drugs offences.

Ch Insp Ian Hall, Maidstone Borough Commander for Mid Kent Police, praised the “diligence, expertise, level of training and professionalism” of the door staff in dealing with what could have potentially become a serious incident.

Mr Hall said: “I think the public can take comfort from the fact that there are people working on their behalf to allow them to enjoy their nights out in safety.”
