There were delays for motorists around the Chiltern Hundreds roundabout in Maidstone this morning after a car driver lost control of his BMW and crashed into railings on the Sittingbourne Road.

The vehicle was being cleared at 9am and traffic is now returning to normal.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

Kent County Council maintenance staff are on the scene and trying to work out how to put the railings back together. In the meantime the footpath is closed to pedestrians.
