Person cut out of car after car overturns in crash in Plough Wents Road, Chart Sutton near Maidstone

Firefighters had to cut a driver from their car after it overturned when it crashed into a telegraph pole yesterday evening.

Crews were called to a single vehicle collision in Plough Wents Road, Chart Sutton, near Maidstone, at around 8.20pm.

Three fire engines attended, along with the air ambulance, where crews cut away at the roof to free one woman.

She was passed into the care of the ambulance service and taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 8.20pm on Sunday, May 15, to a report that a car had struck a telegraph pole and overturned in Plough Wents Road, Chart Sutton.

"Officers, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene where a woman received medical attention and was then taken to a local hospital.

"The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident."

An ambulance spokesman said: "Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

"A female patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital by road."
