A lorry driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash on the A21 in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters had to cut the driver free, and a passenger in a white transit, after the crash at Pembury at around 5.15am.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the northbound carriageway, and the road was closed at Northfarm Roundabout, the slip at the Vauxhall roundabout and at the Quarry Hill junction with the A21.

The transit driver wasn't hurt, but one of his passengers suffered injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

The lorry driver was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area, but the road has now reopened.
