A 20-year-old led police on a high-speed chase through residential streets before hitting a bus.

Police officers were patrolling in Sutton Road, Maidstone, when they saw an Audi A3 with visible defects and sought to stop the car on Thursday (January 5).

The driver did not stop and continued driving at speeds of more than 70mph while being followed by the police vehicle.

The chase continued through residential areas until the car collided with a bus in Stockett Lane.

The driver ran off into an adjacent orchard and was tracked down and arrested after the police helicopter plus two police dogs were deployed.

Danny White, 20, was later charged with dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

White, of Cottall Avenue, Chatham, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

He was remanded to a hearing at the Maidstone Crown Court on a date yet to be confirmed.
