The M20 was closed London-bound between junctions 9 and 8 for emergency repairs this morning.

Drivers have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys, with surrounding roads including the A20 already very busy.

Emergency repairs were being carried out to roadside cables, Highways England said.

All lanes have been reopened but delays remain on surrounding roads.

Drivers were diverted from the M20 at junction 9 onto the A20 towards Charing.

The diversion continued to Hollingbourne where motorists can join the M20 at junction 8.
