The vehicle did not stop and after a short pursuit was discovered empty on a track just off Blue Bell Hill.

As officers and a police dog searched the area, the drone picked up a figure moving within a nearby line of trees.

The suspect, aged 27 from Staplehurst, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving under the influence of drugs.

He was later released on bail pending further inquiries until Wednesday, January 3 .
