A drug dealer has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after 15 wraps of heroin were seized from his home.
James Bird was arrested on Friday, September 30, after Kent Police found the drugs at his home in Lesley Place, Maidstone.
Heroin was found on his person, and also concealed in various parts of the house, including in a freezer where officers also found quantities of amphetamine.
The police search also uncovered a box containing more than 300g of a powder, which could be used as a cutting agent.
Messages on the 36-year-old's phone provided evidence of deals, although he denied involvement in supplying the drug.
Bird pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing heroin with intent to supply when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court, but was convicted by a jury on Thursday, October 27.
He had previously pleaded guilty to a separate charge of possessing amphetamine.
Detective Constable Michelle Marshall said: "We have been able to provide clear evidence of Bird’s involvement in the supply of heroin and this sentence is an indication of just how effective our officers are in identifying offenders who bring drugs into our communities.
"I would also like to stress that it remains important that residents also continue to play their role in helping us keep their neighbourhoods safe, so please remember to report any suspicious behaviour."
