THE Fremlin Walk shopping complex in Maidstone will be officially opened on Tuesday by the Duke of Kent.
He has been invited by The Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Allan Willett CMG, to unveil a plaque at the centre at 10.30am.
The Duke will be given a tour of the development and will unveil the plaque in St Faith’s Square before visiting Maidstone Museum and Bentlif Art Gallery.
In the afternoon, he will unveil another plaque, this time at Otford Library and Heritage Centre, which has just been refurbished.
Later in the week, Fremlin Walk will be holding a premiere evening with plenty of fun and discounts on offer.
Look-a-like film stars including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom will be rubbing shoulders with shoppers on the red carpet from 6pm on Thursday, November 17.
The shopping complex will be transformed into a film opening night, with film set props and paparazzi photographers.
Shoppers will have the chance to win prizes, including £250 worth of House of Fraser vouchers, and enjoy drinks and canapés.
At House of Fraser, there will be beauty demonstrations and free make-overs while many stores are offering discounts.
Shoppers can also win a break at Chilston Park country house hotel in Lenham and tickets to a classical concert at Leeds Castle.
Centre manager Mark Martin said: “Fremlin Walk’s Premiere Evening is bringing high glamour to Maidstone and it’s going to be a glitzy evening for shoppers.”
