Eight-mile queues and 40-minute delays on M20 due to broken down vehicles in Operation Brock contraflow

Drivers faced 40-minute rush-hour delays on the M20 this morning due to a broken down lorry - and just when it had been cleared a car broke down in the same place.

Highways England closed one lane on the London-bound carriageway between junction 9 at Ashford and 8 at Hollingbourne following the first incident at around 8am.

Delays were said to be around 40 minutes above normal journey times and congestion was stretching back up to eight miles.

The lorry was recovered just after 9am but delays remained.

But now a car has also broken down in the Operation Brock contraflow causing more jams.
