A woman has been taken to hospital after crashing into a lamppost in Maidstone.

The accident happened in Claremont Road, just off the A249 Sittingbourne Road shortly after 10.30am.

The road was blocked at the junction with Ardenlee Drive.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene.

Drivers are advised to use an alternative route.
