A mobility scooter retailer and supplier of all kinds of supporting goods for the disabled has ceased business.
Euromobility Ltd was established in 2004 and operated from premises within the Mid Kent Shopping centre in Castle Road, Maidstone.
The directors were Lesley Floyd and Mandy Fenton. The shop has been closed since Monday.
The directors blamed the loss of a valuable KCC contract for the company's woes, but said that they were talking to another disability sector company who might be interested in taking on the business.
A notice to customers in the store's window said: “It is with great sadness (that we have) to advise you that we have decided to close our company Euromedical Products Ltd Retail Division trading as Euromobility.
“Kent County Council chose to award the running of their loan stores to Nottingham Rehab Supplies Ltd and we have worked extremely hard to continue to demonstrate and supply a range of products and services for the NRS contract.
“We were advised recently that the last of the work that we do and services that we supply for KCC through Nottingham Rehab Supplies was being withdrawn from us and taken in-house by them and without this vital income stream, we are no longer able to sustain as a company, therefore we have had to take the decision to close our business.
“As an update, this is to advise that we have spoken with a local company within our industry. They are very keen to see that Euromobility continues to provide the service levels and they are possibly looking at taking on the company including staff to ensure continuity.
"We are actively talking with both the company and the liquidators as we hope to see a positive way forward and ask that you bear with us during this period.
“We wish to say our personal thanks to all our loyal customers. We have thoroughly enjoyed being of service to you and we wish you all the best."
The company’s website has been taken down.
