Commuters have been delayed this morning after a tree fell on to a train line.

Southeastern updated passengers on Twitter about the incident which blocked the Ashford bound line near Maidstone East.

The London bound lines passed the area at a reduced speed and some services were being diverted between Otford and Ashford to run via Sevenoaks.

The London bound line has since been cleared but it is still blocked towards Ashford.

This followed an early signalling problem in Sittingbourne which delayed trains by up to 10 minutes.
