WITH ages spanning from 99 to just three weeks, five generations of one family are looking forward to an extra-special Mother's Day.
The arrival of little Oscar Costello-Mannering on February 17 means 99-year-old Ivy Cooper from north Maidstone is now a great-great-grandmother.
And with her daughter, her granddaughter, her great-granddaughter and her great-great-grandson all still living in Maidstone, Mrs Cooper is bound to be spoiled this Sunday.
According to great-granddaughter Anna Costello-Mannering, 28, of Priory Road, it is great having all the family living in the same area, although she did admit it was tough to pop into town without bumping into one of the family.
Spirited pensioner Mrs Cooper, who always has the kettle on ready to make tea when the family visit, has, in total, three children, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and now little Oscar, of whom she said: "It's wonderful to see another generation in the family; he is a lovely little boy."
Mrs Cooper moved to the town from Tunbridge Wells when she was four. Daughter Betty Collins, 79, from Caernarvon Drive, and granddaughter Sheila Costello, 57, of Holtye Crescent, are also Maidstone through-and-through.
Now with Oscar's arrival Mrs Costello-Mannering and her husband James cannot see her own future being away from the town.
"We are both very settled here," she said: "Because everybody is here it just does not occur to us to move anywhere else."
