Faulty vape sees fire crews called to Evapo shop in Maidstone High Street

A faulty vape in a high street shop sparked a large-scale emergency response.

Fire crews were called to Maidstone at 12.13pm today.

Witnesses saw firefighters going into Evapo vape shop in Jubilee Square, near the top of Gabriels Hill.

Two engines were sent and the faulty device had stopped smoking when they arrived.

A thermal scan was carried out to make sure it had fully cooled down.

No injuries were reported and the shop remained open.
