A fire at a former school building in Hawkhurst is being treated as suspicious.

Three fire crews were called to the former Lillesden Park School site in Hastings Road at 9pm last night. A main jet, two hose reels and a water shuttle were used in an attempt to prevent the fire spreading.

They spent two hours at the scene where an annexe to the building was destroyed by the blaze. It's not thought anyone was injured.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
