Fire fighters across Kent are planning to go on a 24 hour strike next week.
It comes following a call by the Fire Brigades Union this morning calling for the action to be taken from 7am on Wednesday, February 25 to Thursday, February 26.
The strike has been called as part of an ongoing dispute between the union and the government concerning pensions.
All stations will continue to be manned and the service will still respond to 999 calls, but not at its ‘normal’ levels.
Sean Bone-Knell, director of operations for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, has called for people to be vigilant while the action is being taken.
“We are asking you to keep your home or business safe during the strike by taking a few extra safety precautions.
“However, in the event of a fire the advice remains the same; get out, stay out and call 999, you will get an emergency response.”
