Firefighters were called after a chimney at a large manor house became alight.
One crew from Sittingbourne went to the scene in Seed Road near Newnham, at around 4.30pm yesterday.
They were only there for an hour as they put out the blaze and cleared the hearth.
A spokesman said: "We recommend people with a wood fire should have it serviced at least twice every season"
