Firefighters were called to a flat fire in a town centre this morning.
Crews tackled the blaze inside the building in Week Street, Maidstone, for more than an hour.
Seven fire engines were sent at around 10am and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
They also helped one person from the building, who was passed into the care of paramedics for suspected smoke inhalation.
The rest of the premises was evacuated and the fire was put out at 11.21am.
A spokesman from the service said the cause is believed to be accidental.
