A Kent fisheries has been named among the top angling spots in the country.
Elphicks Fisheries in Spelmonden Road, Horsmonden, came out top in the county, and was also rated the 10th best in the UK by retailer Fishing Republic.
The fishery, set up in 2000, has seven lakes covering almost 20 acres of water, stocked mainly with carp, but also with tench and perch.
Each lake caters for a different level of ability. There is also a lodge and bait shop, and an all-day cafe.
Fishing Republic assessed each site on the average cost of a day permit, whether night fishing and junior angling were available, the extent of the facilities, the costs of parking and the number of species available to fish.
Elphicks scored 7.04 out of 10.
The top location in the country was Anglers Paradise in Devon with a 9.71 score.
A spokesman for Elphicks said: “It’s always nice to be singled out for praise, but it’s not the first time and we are getting used to it.”
