A fly-tipper has been fined more than £700.

Daryl Deadman, from Wrotham, admitted dumping four black sacks of household waste, cardboard and broken furniture in nearby in Exedown Hill.

Investigators for Tonbridge and Malling council traced the rubbish to an address in Hastings which was linked to the 22-year-old.

Deadman, of Pilgrims Way, appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, and pleaded guilty to the offence.

He apologised to the court and said he had forgotten about the bags but when he went back two days later to collect them, the evidence had been cleared.

He was fined £400 and ordered to pay £300 costs. The defendant will have to pay a £15 victim surcharge.

Cllr Owen Baldock, cabinet member for environmental services, said: "There can be no excuse for fly tipping, which continues to be a financial burden on the council taxpayer and an eyesore.

"We will continue to work with other Local Authorities to ensure that those who deface our environment are brought to justice."
