Four suspects have been charged in connection with burglaries in west Kent - including a man who wanted in connection with break ins at Maidstone newsagents.
Rohan Douglas was arrested after cash and cigarettes were reported stolen from a shop in King Street on February 6 and in Week Street on April 19.
Douglas, aged 30 and of Hounslow Road, Feltham, Middlesex appeared before Chatham Magistrates’ Court today, faced with two charges of burglary and was remanded in custody.
Other recent charges included three Tonbridge men arrested following reports a shed had been broken into, in Woodland Way in Bidborough near Tunbridge Wells, on March 14.
Ben Foster, aged 25, of Rose Street, Steven Sandmeier-Jeffrey, 18, of Somerhill Road, and Owen Tredway, 18, of Gorham Drive were all later arrested and have now been charged with burglary. They are bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on June 30.
Det Ch Insp Jon Armory said: "Burglary is still a rare crime, but it can have a devastating effect on the victims and I want to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to bring arrests and charges against those responsible.
"Our officers will also relentlessly pursue anyone seeking to profit from these crimes through other means, such as handling stolen goods.
"I would also like to remind residents that they can help us track down offenders and secure successful convictions by identifying their personal and valuable possessions. Mark your property, by taking photographs of items and recording serial numbers. In the event of anything being stolen this greatly improves the chances of your property being reunited with you."
