A Frenchman has appeared in Maidstone Magistrates' Court accused of smuggling seven foreign nationals into Kent in a light aircraft.

Thirty nine-year-old Eric Adrien Laou-Hep appeared in court on Monday July 27 charged with assisting illegal entry.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court again at a later date.

Kent Police were called to Laddingford Airfield near Maidstone on Saturday July 25 after a plane landed there without permission.
