Friends and businesses have helped raise £6,000 to hold the perfect send-off for a much-loved teenager.
Relatives, friends and local companies have pulled together to collect as much money as possible for the funeral of Danielle Brooker.
The 18-year-old, of Nicholas Close, Barming, died suddenly of a cold which turned into a brain infection.
MuMu bar and lounge, in Week Street, Maidstone, raised £4,000 last weekend by charging customers a minimum entry fee of £1 and a disco was held last night (Thursday) at Babylon nightclub, in King Street.
More than 150 people attended, including Danielle’s mum Sharon, 41, and brother Danny, 22, who helped raise £2,000.
The money was raised through entry fees and a raffle, which a long list of businesses donated prizes for.
Family friend Lisa Wallace organised the night with sister-in-law Caroline Wallace.
Lisa said: ""It was a fantastic night. The only thing missing was Danielle."
"People wouldn’t stop thanking us. I think we were both hugged-out by the end!
"We would just like to thank all the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle, especially Dyson Brown hairdressers who donated six spray tans and cut and finishes."
Danielle’s funeral is on Monday, November 8 at 10am, at St Michael’s Church, Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, followed by a burial at Maidstone cemetery, Sutton Road.
People are asked to wear bright clothing, with flower prints.
