Forty-seven-year-old man from High Halden, Ashford, arrested in connection with crowd brawl at Maidstone Gurkha Boxing Club fight

A third person has been arrested in connection with a brawl at a boxing match.

A 47-year-old man from High Halden, Ashford, has been arrested after a crowd fight erupted at a Maidstone Gurkha Boxing Club event on Saturday, March 21.

Chairs were hurled and punched thrown outside the ring and a man was reportedly firing missiles with a catapult as violence escalated out of control.

Police were called just before 8.30pm to the fight night at the New Line Learning Academy in Boughton Lane, Loose, but no suspects were found.

The suspect has been bailed until Wednesday, May 6, pending further inquiries.

Two men from Snodland were arrested on March 27 on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident.

Divisional commander Chief Supt Steve Corbishley said: "We take incidents of this nature very seriously and will seek to prosecute anyone who causes trouble at sporting attractions or any other events in Maidstone and beyond.

"Law-abiding members of the public should be able to enjoy themselves without that enjoyment being spoiled by the actions of a mindless few."
