A gas leak has forced a fourth road closure in a village.

A section of the road by Popes Wood, Bearsted, is closed to through traffic while SGN investigate a suspected gas leak.

The closure is likely to last for several days.

The incident will add to the frustration for drivers in the village who are already dealing with KCC roadworks in Bearsted Road expected to last until December 31, which have reduced the carriageway to one lane.

In addition there are road closures in Rosecacre Lane where SGN is updating a gas mains supply, expected to last until January 31, and in Ware Street where South East Water is repairing a water main, which hopefully will be completed tomorrow
