A GHURKA based in Maidstone has died on an Army exercise in the Blue Bell Hill area.

The member of the 36 Engineer Regiment, based at Invicta Barracks, is thought to have been a captain leading a training march.

He is thought to have collapsed at about 11am yesterday and was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham.

A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of his death.
