A teenage girl is in custody after police spotted a suspected stolen vehicle in Maidstone.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit stopped a Ford Focus at around 10.30pm last night after realising it was displaying false number plates.

A search of the car revealed a number of registration plates were inside.

Two men, aged 24 and 18 and a girl aged 16 were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The suspects, all of whom are from Maidstone, have been released pending further investigation.
