One good deed can lead to another- as volunteers found when the owner of a wallet they had returned donated a Rolls-Royce to their charity shop.
Despite being only a toy, the generous donation was made first prize in a competition and raised almost £500 for The Children's Trust charity shop in Gabriels Hill, Maidstone.
But the story doesn’t end there. The car was won by Ron Moys, from West Malling, whose mother had passed away recently.
While clearing her house he had found some spare change which he had used to enter the competition.
Mr Moys said: “I am delighted to have won the car. It feels as though my mum was watching over us and bought the car as a first Christmas present for her great-granddaughter. It brought a smile to all of our faces at a special time of year.”
Now Mr Moys said he has decided in turn to donate his mother's belongings to the charity shop.
Mandy Tucker, store manager, said: “This is such a fantastic story that had a great result for everyone. We really appreciate Ron’s donation.
"For those of you who are planning a Christmas de-clutter, we would welcome donations of good quality clothing and other items in good condition, including books, CDs, clothing, toys, fashion accessories, bric-a-brac and kitchen-ware.”
