GP faces forgery and deception charges

A KENT doctor has appeared before a court accused of prescription irregularities.

Dr Werner Robert Rumfeld, of Harrison Drive, Harrietsham, near Maidstone, appeared before magistrates at Sevenoaks on Wednesday. He is charged with 26 allegations of forgery and obtaining property by deception.

The 57-year-old general practitioner, who works at The Cedars Surgery in Swanley Shopping Centre, was arrested in November and charged on January 8.

He was remanded on conditional bail by the magistrates who adjourned the case until Friday, February 2.
