A town’s third Greggs has opened just a stone’s throw away from one of its other bakeries.
The newest addition to Week Street in Maidstone welcomed customers at the weekend and showed off its new look and seating area.
In total, 12 jobs were created at the shop which joins its two other sites in The Mall and King Street.
It opened at the formerly vacant Monsoon shop which closed in June 2020 when the retailer announced it, alongside stores in Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells, were to close after the business entered administration.
Maidstone has welcomed a number of fast-food joints in recent years, taking on a Wendy’s and a Taco Bell.
Located between two empty units once owned by Game and Dorothy Perkins, the new Greggs will sit just metres away from another store in King Street.
Greggs spokesman Gillian Long said: “Our new shop in Maidstone has brought new jobs to the local area, as well as providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their favourite Greggs food.”
It will be open from 6am to 6pm each day and will sell favourites such as the traditional sausage roll, steak bakes and vegan alternatives.
Breakfast combinations, including a breakfast roll or baguette alongside an orange juice or hot drink will be served until 11am every day.
Shop manager Annastella Charles Baligeya said: “We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop.
“We’ve got an amazing range of tasty bakes, hot drinks, sweet treats and savouries available for takeaway or collection.”
