A school boy caused a stir at show and tell when he pulled out a hand grenade.
The pupil at Coxheath Primary School, Maidstone, had brought in the explosive device on Tuesday (January 25) for a class project on ancient artefacts.
Luckily, the grenade was not live but bomb disposal experts were called as a precaution.
Head teacher Caroline Robinson said: "When I saw it, I obviously took it and checked it was safe.
"He didn't know what it was. We had asked the children to bring in an artefact so technically he did quite well!"
The police arrived at 8.45am and placed the device, thought to date from 1915, on a field away from the school and covered it with sandbags.
The army bomb disposal team arrived at 11am and confirmed the grenade was safe.
The youngster was allowed to take the artefact home.
