Ever woken up with your head spinning, mouth dry and craving junk food after a night out on the town?
Well enterprising Medway mum Donna Docherty has come up with a solution, bringing her Hangover Angels delivery service to customers armed with heavenly fast food and painkillers.
The 40-year-old, of Kitchener Road, Strood, started the business after being made redundant.
She said: “Suddenly I found myself in the predicament that the people I had been helping were in.
“I didn’t want to live on benefits, but I was applying for hundreds of jobs with no luck.
“It just came to me. My friend said ‘wouldn’t it be great if McDonald’s delivered breakfasts’, and I thought, ‘what a great idea’.
“It is a real gap in the market.”
Miss Docherty floated the idea on Facebook and, to her shock, Hangover Angels received 2,000 likes in just two days.
Since she started the company in Medway in August she has helped to cure the hangovers of more than 300 people who over-indulged.
She has also branched out into office lunches, Sunday roasts, prescriptions and other errands.
“I couldn’t believe the support it got,” she said.
“I get asked to deliver Sunday roasts, fry-ups, fast food and even groceries. A lot of the customers call me their angel, or say we are lifesavers.”
“The most popular orders are for KFC and Nando’s and the busiest day is all day Sunday, with people recovering from nights out. I am often asked to pick up painkillers and hangover remedies like tomato juice or ice pops.”
“I deliver anything, within reason. Once I got a call from a man who said he wanted me to pick up something very precious to him.
“It turned out he wanted me to collect his wife from work, which I had to turn down.”
She has also had to reject requests for drugs, and to personally cook for intoxicated customers.
Hangover Angels has five drivers, and is looking to recruit more as Miss Docherty expands the business into Maidstone and Gravesend.
She added: “I’m just building it up now but I hope one day it will go national.”
