Maidstone returned from a potentially tricky FA Cup second qualifying round tie at South Midlands Premier Division Harefeld with a 2-0 win under their belts on Saturday.
It was not a classic performance by the Stones and the first chance did not arrive until two minutes before the break when Jay Saunders put a glancing header just wide.
The breakthrough came in first half stoppage time when Roland Edge managed to turn the ball into the net after good work from Saunders and James Pinnock (pictured).
Harefield improved in the second half and had chances to equalise but Richmond Agyeman missed with a free header and Stones keeper Jamie Turner palmed away an Adam Willis shot.
It was left to Pinnock to book Stones’ place in the next round three minutes from time when his weak shot crept in after substitute Jimmy Bottle had pulled the ball back to him.
A Carl Rook brace guided Tonbridge to a 4-0 over Horsham YMCA in the FA Cup second qualifying round at Longmead on Saturday.
Paul Booth’s close range header put the Angels in front, before Lee Minshull was on target to double their lead.
Rook got his first from the penalty spot, after a foul on Jamie Cade, to put Tonbridge 3-0 up at half-time, before netting the only goal of the second half.
