Police have closed Teston Bridge after a car crashed into it.

Officers were called to the historic bridge on Teston Lane near Maidstone shortly after 6.30am.

It will remain shut until the vehicle has been recovered.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 6.32am regarding a report that a car had collided with Teston Bridge on Teston Lane near Maidstone.

"Officers are currently at the scene where no injuries have been reported.

"The bridge will remain closed until the vehicle is recovered and drivers should consider alternative routes."
