Man accused of flashing staff at Maidstone Hospital and assaulting nurse appears in court

A man accused of flashing at hospital staff has appeared in court.

John Abbotts, of no fixed address, allegedly exposed himself to a female nurse before assaulting her at Maidstone Hospital.

The 59-year-old is alleged to have acted aggressively towards medical staff on Sunday, November 20, before damaging a screen.

Police were called to the hospital in Hermitage Lane and arrested him.

He was later further arrested after reports he had been abusive to people in the town centre.

Abbotts was charged with indecent exposure, assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage at the hospital, criminal damage to a police vehicle and four public order offences.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Wedneday, December 21.
