A GANG of more than 50 youths had their Friday night plans ended when police stopped them en-route to a woodland drinking session.
A massive haul of alcohol was taken from the gang of between 50-60 young people, who were stopped near the A20/Town Hill area of West Malling, on their way to nearby Leybourne Woods.
PCSOs Wendy Stanley and Ed Moore confiscated the drinks, which included 50 cans of beer, 12 cans of cider, seven bottles of beer, 10 bottles of alco pops, two bottles of wine, five bottles of cider and one bottle of spirits.
They will now send letters to the parents and carers of those involved and follow-up visits are to be arranged where necessary.
The licensing officer for the area has also been informed.
PCSO Stanley said underage drinking was “a cause for concern” for residents, as it could lead to anti-social behaviour.
She added: “I am glad that my colleagues and I were able to put a stop to it on this occasion.
“By drinking underage, young people also put themselves at risk, either by becoming ill through intoxication or acting in a way that they would never do when sober.”
