Homes were left without electricity after a power cut this afternoon.

Engineers were called to fix the outage in the Tovil area of Maidstone following a report at about 3pm.

They believed the issue is a fault with some equipment at the substation in the Church Road area.

A statement by UK Power Networks said they did not know the power cut was going to happen and predicted it would be resolved between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

However, they confirmed power was restored shortly after 5.35pm.
