He started out as just a twinkle in the Kent Messenger’s eye but now Hunter the guide dog is all grown up and doing the job he was trained for.
The Kent Messenger raised £5,000 to sponsor the dog in 2009 as part of our 150th anniversary year.
And thanks to all the donations, Hunter is now making life a lot easier for his new owner, Paul Johnson, who lives in Newmarket.
He's been on a long journey to make it to his new home as a fully-fledged guide dog, spending a year with puppy walkers Joan and Graham Frogbrook before undergoing intensive training.
Samantha Gibbs, guide dog trainer, said: “Hunter has made a lasting impact and is thoroughly enjoying his life.
“He and Paul are working very well together for such early days
and Paul is absolutely thrilled with Hunter.”
